Northern Sky

"Northern Sky"

When the sun goes down
In the northern sky
and the tiny lights
fill up the darkened night

When the old hopes? burn
like cracklin' fires
And the old crows dance
Out on the freezing wires

Someone asked me one time
If the world should ever end
In whose arms would I spend them
if I'd moments left to spend

When the snow falls down
Like frozen bones
Through the twisted trees
Onto the crooked homes
And when the morning comes
Like a rolling train
And the mad dogs barking
at the wind a gain

If my days were ever numbered
Now, I know what I would do
I'd never have to wonder
I would close my eyes with you
That's what I'd do
That's what I would do

Someone asked me one time
If the world should ever end
In whose arms would I spend them
if I'd moments left to spend
If days were ever numbered
Now I know what I would do
I'd never have to wonder
I would close my eyes with you

When the sun goes down
in the northern sky
and the tiny lights
fill up the darkened night

I want to hold you close
I want to hold you down
I want to lose myself there
And never find my way found
I want to lose myself there
And never find my way home
